I've been asked a few times, "What will you be wearing for Fashion Week?"... No, not in the big fashion icon way, but more like, 'what-can-you-wear-for-such-a-fashionable-time'?
The first thing that pops into my head is the ONE THING I learnt from my last visit - TO PACK LIGHT!! because No, I don't have a team of buyers behind me carrying my stuff, while I parade in heels in the Tuileries Garden with just a clutch. In fact, I look more like a klutz, carrying a map and my phone on one hand, a bag in another, and a camera over my neck... All in all, not a good look.
I am a one man band - I find designers from magazines/browsing the internet, contact them, and when I arrive, I find the showrooms using a little map, make a decision if I like their collection, persuade them to let us stock them, decide on a budget for the brand, make my selection, and move on to the next designer. Then after all that, I go to trades-shows to see if I can find something new. And as if that wasn't enough for just a pair of eyes, I go to markets to hunt for one-off pieces. Then, I carry everything back with me.
So, tell me, with only 23kgs worth of luggage weight, how can I have a TOTAL LOOK each day?
At the top of my head, I am thinking maybe 2 or 3 (or 4? NO! STOP ME!!) of my favourite jackets, a pair of flat shoes (No Studded Louboutin Lace ups this time! Another pair needs a chance to walk the streets of Paris), a pair of heels, and... OMG! EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS IS GETTING ME STRESSED. Forget it, I'll think about this tomorrow.
